A clever tile-laying game. The southern French city of Carcassonne is famous for its unique Roman and Medieval fortifications. The players develop the area around Carcassonne and deploy their followers on the roads, in the cities, in the cloisters, and in the fields. The skill of the players to develop the area will determine who is victorious.
This version includes the free river expansion.
CG says: One of the tricky aspects of this game is the farmer rule. Not using that rule we have been able to teach children as young as 7 how to play this game. Its great for developing tactical play and to work out optimal moves. This game can be played aggressively by stoping your opponents area being developed or with less interaction if players focus on their own developments.
